Vocal Jazz Combo

The PCC Studio Jazz Voice program is a highly coveted educational platform that draws singers from abroad. Here they achieve fundamental to advanced professional technics in jazz singing.

Our Jazz Vocal Combo (MUSC 057i) is an ensemble that focuses on theory, history, rehearsals and performance of all jazz styles from New Orleans to avant-garde using lead sheets. Opportunities for extended improvised soloing as part of a combo band and jazz vocalists technics, typically a rhythm section and 2 horns.  Students are encouraged to create unique arrangements based on legendary artists. Past members of this combo have transferred to CSU Northridge, CSU Fullerton, CSU Long Beach, San Diego State, Azusa Pacific, UCLA, UC Berkeley, University of Arizona and many others.  Many are currently working as performers in the industry such as cruise ships, studio work, as well as touring with major artists.

 

The Jazz Vocal Combo will gain practical experience by performing at a local public restaurant or club and will perform two other shows on campus.  Rehearsals are Wednesdays from 7pm – 10pm in the Performing Arts Building.  Come and join us!!
